The Counter Assault bear spray is a must have when camping or hiking. This bear spray is not meant for spraying around the campsite to ward off bears. The spray is to be used when a bear wants to eat you. Obviously this is a product you would want to keep with you at all times. If a bear is charging you and you have to run and find it you may end up in a dilly of a pickle. The spray works flawlessly on all North American bears including teddy bears and Winnie the Pooh. Note the Counter Assault bear spray has not been tested on Pandas, however they are less likely to invade your campsite, especially if your in Canada.
The product is affective within a range of 30 feet and has an easy to find trigger as it glows in the dark. Unfortunately bears don’t glow in the dark and 30 feet can be closed really really quickly by a bear. If i were you i’d probably use a rifle instead. To be at the receiving end of one of these is quite dangerous and frightening as the noise alone will rock your core. This is not your run of the mill pepper spray, if used on humans the result could end in blindness or even worse the end of your camping trip. Pack one of these bad boys along with the rest of your camping gear and camp without fear of getting mauled.

I think even James Bond carries one of these. The Leatherman Skeletool camping multi-tool has been voted the best camping gear tool of 2008. When you take a close look at it you can see why. Leatherman has managed to cram a multitude of handy tools all into one tight compact unit that is easy to use. The Skeletool comes with a straight and serrated edged blade which are coated in Tungsten DLC which protects the blades and allows you to keep them razor sharp for a long time. The built-in needle nose pliers work as if they are a regular full-sized pair. This multi-tool is fitted with a carbon grip for ultimate control and a clip that can be used as a bottle opener.
The Skeletool is also equipped with a basic screwdriver set for those unfortunate occasions when your flashlight batteries die and you need to replace them. Imagine you had a flashlight and new batteries but no screwdriver to open it up. Don’t be caught unprepared in the woods, i could think of many scenarios where this tool would come in handy and i always make sure i grab this when i’m packing my camping gear for an outing. One thing that should be mentioned is the weight of this multi-tool. It won’t weigh you down because of the choice of metals used and that has always been a big drawback with most outdoor camping tools. We are always looking for a way to lighten the load and Leatherman has pulled through.
